Glan y Dwr, Crickhowell. Tel 01873 812512. NGR SO/218186.
Run by Julian and Alison, this elegant house with 17th century origins is only a stone's throw from my base in the centre of Crickhowell. It has recently been refurbished to a very high standard.
Gwyn Deri, Crickhowell. Tel 01873 812494. NGR SO/215184.

Sue and Pete offer a very warm Welsh welcome at this charming Grade II Georgian house within easy staggering distance of my base. All rooms have en-suite facilities, and are furnished to a high standard.
The Bear Hotel, Crickhowell. Tel 01873 810408. NGR SO/217184.
My main base for over 30 years! Lots of oak beams, roaring log fires and friendly, obliging staff all add to the unique, relaxing atmosphere of this incredibly busy, award winning, 3 star hotel. Conveniently situated on the main road at the end of the High Street and a focal point of the local community, both accommodation and food are to an exceptional standard. The Bear is a firm favourite with many of my regulars – indeed, I often bump into past clients here! Early booking recommended.
The Dragon Hotel, Crickhowell. Tel 01873 810362. NGR SO/217183.
This small, cosy hotel is situated in a central position at the opposite end of the High Street to my base. The building itself is extremely old, and the recently refurbished rooms are quaint with beams and uneven floors. For those of you with large cars, be warned that access to the car park is exceptionally narrow!
The Manor Hotel, Crickhowell. Tel 01873 810212. NGR SO/213194.
The birthplace and former family home of Sir George Everest (the Surveyor General of India, after whom Mount Everest is named), this hotel is set in a stunning position about 1km from the centre of Crickhowell, with huge views over the Usk Valley. On-site leisure facilities include a small indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam-room, and a small but well-equipped gym.
Further information about accommodation is available from the excellent Crickhowell Tourist Information Centre website.
