WALKING WITH WALKER
Astonishing Walking Events & Guided Walks in the Brecon Beacons and throughout the wilder side of Wales
Explore the Welsh countryside in the company of an experienced, enthusiastic and knowledgeable professional.
Join me for for a day (or longer!) whenever you visit the area, or come especially for one of my stunning walking events.
I grade my walking events in three categories...
Stroll – A straightforward walk of less than 10kms, mostly on good paths.
Stretch – Mainly between 10kms and 15kms, these walks are slightly more demanding and may include short, steep climbs or sections of rough terrain.
Strenuous – Full-on hill-walking with long or steep climbs, sometimes on difficult terrain.

These long, high ridges offer huge views and surprisingly easy walking through countryside full of history and legend. The backs of Dragons and Cats have a special place here. Intriguing!
The highest mountains in southern Britain may be popular, but I’ll take you on lesser known routes so you avoid the crowds and get to know the true atmosphere of the area. Magnificent!
Stunning walking in a Welsh wilderness! Huge hills with panoramic views sweep down to lonely limestone moors, where the occasional wrecked aircraft adds poignancy. Magic!
Vast expanses of moorland stretch across the SE corner of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Bleak but beautiful and pockmarked with “shakeholes”, they offer wild walking! Marvellous!
Wales is blessed with a fabulous coastline, and I know some of the best (and most exciting) walks. The Gower Peninsular and Pembrokeshire are firm favourites. Wonderful!
The Welsh landscape is steeped in history & legend. On these walks you will experience the magic of myth, stroll through history, & explore social & industrial heritage. Fascinating!
My Snowdonia walks are not just about the classic routes to the major summits, but also include some lesser-known gems which will show you the area in a new and exciting light. Breathtaking!
Why is the mountain that shape? What is that rock/bird/plant? What is the best way to photograph that view? Questions like these (& more) are answered on these walks. Fascinating!
ALL THESE WALKS (and more) ARE AVAILABLE ON DEMAND.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS...
What kit do I need?
That depends on the time of year, but sturdy footwear and a reasonable set of waterproofs are essential, plus warm, windproof clothing including hat and gloves. You will also need a small rucksack in which to carry a packed lunch, and something (non-alcoholic!) to drink. I'll send you full kitlist when I confirm your booking.
Where can I stay?
Walking events in the Brecon Beacons are run from the Bear Hotel in Crickhowell, and you can find suggestions for local accommodation here. I am happy to advise about accommodation for walking events based elsewhere... please contact the office.
How fit must I be?
Whilst none of my walks are feats of endurance (they are more about quality than quantity), you will get more from the walks if you are reasonably fit. My grading system will give you an idea of what to expect on each walk, or you can contact the office for more details.
What about the weather?
I believe that there's no such thing as bad weather... just inappropriate clothing or a badly chosen route! However, if the conditions are really bad, I have lots of great alternative routes available.
How many people will there be?
I guarantee that there will never be more than 6 people per guide on our walking events, often less. You may even get 1:1 attention!
How can I book?
What if I want walk without hiring a guide? Can I get details of the walks?
Of course you can! You can download full descriptions of many of my walks here.
